About The Vintage Stitch

Some stories are too beautiful to be forgotten.

Every piece of vintage fabric that finds its way to my sewing table belonged to someone's dream long before it belonged to mine.

Someone once wandered through a fabric shop, stopped when a pattern caught their eye, and imagined everything they would create. They carried it home with excitement and tucked it away for the perfect project. Life moved on, as it so often does, and sometimes those plans were left unfinished.

Years later, those forgotten fabrics find their way into my hands.

That is where The Vintage Stitch begins.

For me, vintage fabric has never simply been fabric. It's a reminder of a slower life. It brings me back to afternoons at my grandmother's house, where something wonderful was always baking in the kitchen and the biggest worry was making it home before the streetlights came on. Those memories are quiet, comforting, and full of joy and that's exactly what I hope every piece I create brings to someone else.

I believe beautiful things deserve another chance.

I spend countless hours searching for authentic vintage textiles because they tell stories that new fabrics simply can't. The colors have softened with time, the prints have a character all their own, and each piece carries a little history waiting to become part of someone else's.

When I'm deciding what a fabric should become, I rarely make that decision alone. My children sit beside me, helping me unfold each piece, run our hands across it, admire the patterns, and imagine what it wants to be. In many ways, they're helping write the next chapter of a story that began decades ago.

Everything is thoughtfully handmade in my Mississippi sewing room with the hope that it won't just be useful today, but treasured for years to come.

I don't dream of creating products that are replaced every season.

I dream of creating the cosmetic bag a granddaughter asks for when her grandmother passes away because it reminds her of afternoons spent getting ready together.

I dream of creating pieces that become part of everyday routines, family traditions, and eventually, family heirlooms.

Because while I may be the one sewing each stitch...the story doesn't belong to me.

It belongs to everyone who loved that fabric before me,
and everyone who will love it long after I'm gone.
